KDU Food Festival 2009
May 14, 2009
Food festivals are usually in an open area, I thought, because all the heat and smoke from cooking will get into the fabric and hair tosses then become barbecue-flavoured wind. BUT!!!!! KDU decided to hold everything in in their canteen. We must all salute to everyone who were cooking in the heat and promoting in layers of costumes today man! All that they have to endure… :P
I don’t have much entertaining photos to tell how everything went because I did not want to risk having my camera lense to be exposed to the grease-filled atmosphere the whole time I was there. :(
The first buy I made was for a cabonara which was very cheesy (A+ FROM ME!) and woah, such a big portion just for RM6!!! If at those fancy italian restaurant, it could’ve been triple that amount. When the food price hiked simultaneously with the fuel price, it was reasonable. HOWEVER, when the fuel prices were reduced, THE FOOD PRICE HIKE KEPT ON GOING!!! Even till now. :(
ANYWAY.

Tallie Edmond and shortie me.
We were queuing up for something for TWENTY minutes!!!!! It was so ridiculously long (@#$%&*!!!), but we did a bit of catching up. :) Back in the days we played basketball together (he was Vice Pres, I was Sec and Vincent was Pres, so we always teamed up for 3-on-3’s and always won!!!!! :D), he dreamed about doing Culinary Arts! He’s doing a business-related course now, but I secretly think he still has that dream. :/ :(

This was what we were waiting for!!!
Stall name: Champion Kebab. Stall name I’d give: Champion. Hehehehehe! Other stalls, please don’t be jealous. :P Let me tell you WHY — 1) The guys in control of the cooking department looks so macho doing all the barbecuing (really okay! :P), 2) The portion is just right, not too big nor small and 3) The sauce complimented both the chicken AND beef kebabs. OH YUMMAAY!!! :))) I’m sure Edmond agrees too!
After more rounds of going around the food stalls and getting myself stuffed, I got all hot and bothered. NOT IN A GOOD WAY. Lol. But I found the smartest stall that sold…

Flavoured Ice!
It probably saved me from collapsing due to the heat. And who knew strawberry, mango and honeydew were such a fantastic combo! :) VERY SMART, REALLY. I even bought two more after that. Haha.

This is Lester’s class’ stall!!!!!
… and his scared classmate. Lol. And hey, who’s that auntie hovering over your sales box? :P Lester’s stall would probably profit considering that their food are so darn overpriced! Hmph! Char kuey teow for RM5, ONE fried popiah for RM2 and kakiage for RM4!!!!! But being such a supportive friend, ahem ahem, I still bought. Lol.

Ranessh came too! And Lester’s expression is literally… -__-

My ice finished! :’( To my left, Mr Dorairaj looking all girlie with a moustache. :P

Very sporting people! :)
Throughout the whole thing, there were students going up to the central platform to dance TO promote their stalls. The big guy wearing blue t-shirt and Gucci cap is the one who stole the crowd. All the girls were screaming and squealing, hahaha! :D
I’m pretty stuffed from the food festival. I think it will take three days of proper hulla hoop swinging session to ensure that my tummy does not bulge. Hehehehe. :P
All in all, I had a pretty good day! It was good because it was a carefree day and anything to be worried about was actually not in my mind. Hehe. And then I got a call telling me that the problem is solved! AND, I’m most likely going to Hong Kong after all! YAYS! ;) :D Everything’s great now, especially after getting rid of the grease from my hair with good ol’ L’Oreal Elsève Smooth-Intense Ultra Rich shampoo. :) :) :)))
Good Food Can Be So Sinful
May 3, 2009
On Thursday, KP, Ken Wee and myself went to Queen’s Park in the morning for the first day of Nike Warehouse Sale! We each got at least something when we got out. :) I was quite happy but the boys were just tired. Shopping is apparently more exhausting than football sessions.

The boys were so dulan because… yeaaah, you kneow! :P
There is a Starbucks across the warehouse’s block, so we headed there. Chilled and made plans for after our lunch. Hehehe. We initially wanted lunch char siew because it’s actually just a stone’s throw away… but it’s closed on Thursdays! :( So we went from Off Jalan Peel straight down to Jalan Nyonya!

Godlike Siew Yoke that should be sold in Subang Jaya too! :(
This place house the tastiest dish of siew yoke in the city. Soft, tender meat. Crispy crust. It is VERY APPETIZING. The saltiness of the meat blends and balances well when served with the rice. I swear no photo will do it justice because it tastes just too good to be translated into images. Nor words. Seriously.
Even KP, who is a bigger fan of char siew, said that it was the BEST siew yoke he had, EVERRRR!! :))) We’ll go for the char siew at Jalan Peel next time okay. ;) Ken Wee on the other hand were the one sweeping off all the siew yoke off the plates. -___- By the way, the free flow of soup they had were heavily peppered with ajinomoto.

Very happy people after having a great meal! :)))

The driver and the GPS. Haha.
After lunch, we loitered in Times Square. Ended up at Borders. I thought that China Underground was just downright heartbreaking despite cultural. :( Oh, you people will be just soooo interested to know what book KP was reading! So sinful, I tell you!! But I forgive him because he drives me around safely! Hehe. :P
We picked Jade up from college and then watched Crossing Over in the cinema. I’m unsure of a review because I’m very critical about some of the issues raised. :/

The streets of Jalan Brunei are quite crammed although some are one way streets. Well, driving in KL is no easy job. Especially during peak hours… shucks. Drive safe!
Glorious Cupcakes
March 15, 2009
I’m such a food lover, I even dream about them. ;P :) I dreamt about cupcakes last night. Specifically, some of the ‘cupcake moments’ I had – with Mac at Wondermilk, with Cherie at The Apartment, with Sister at Cupcake Chic, with Je Yue at Delicious, with Yoyo at Bisou… I really want to try Magnolia from NY! Anyone? :D

I can have this no where but back in Ipoh. Homemade by my Aunt J. :)))

Yours truly will be away at Pulau Redang for a pre-birthday getaway. Awesome, huh! :D Will be back for the celebration, for sure. ;) Must miss me okay? HAHA! <3
The Athena
March 9, 2009
Put two crazy girls in KL on their own on a Sunday and you’d get a day like mine. :) You know what, never ever get too carried away chatting on a public transport because you will either miss a station or wait at the wrong platform. Hahaha. But getting lost and being silly become fun when you’ve a friend to share it with. :) Yay! Lol.
First destination was Times Square because the hoodie from Korea that Jade ordered has arrived! After that, we stormed across the city, malls after malls – Lot 10, Bukit Bintang and other malls around that area. We screamed almost every time we crossed a road. LOL! When we reached Pavilion, I was starving! So we dined at The Athena.

Pasta Aglio Olio Prawns
It was gooood. The spices and spaghetti’s tastes blended well. The prawns were huge and meaty. I only wish that it had a bit more cream sauce. But then again, it’s supposed to be a dry dish. Haha. Very modern Mediterranean kind of flava.

Mango Orange Smoothie and Virgin Pina Colada
The Mango Orange Smoothie must have been bland because Jade said so. I didn’t try it. Pina Colada always win, okay? ALWAYS. :P But to be fair, I thought they should’ve added more coconut cream. Hehe. But I love Pina Coladas. ;) ;) Virgin, especially. Haha! It was too early in the evening for alcohol anyway. :P
Jade and I sat outside in the open area but the interior was looking like a lovely atmosphere for dinner. :) The service was, I would say, good and approachable. Hehe! Prices, however, are rather premium but c’mon, this is KL. Everywhere’s premium! I think I’d go back for other dishes and the happy hour is 3PM – 10PM all week!

Roma Pizza Club
March 8, 2009
After Graduation on Friday, the bunch of us wandered around KLCC, looking for something to mend our hunger pangs! The place was so crowded because it’s lunch hour, duh? Haha. So we crossed over the underground KLCC LRT Station to Avenue K. It’s quite a hidden gem, so look hard. ;)

The pizza served here is unlike Pizza Hut nor Domino’s because it’s not too cheesy. Ingredients thrown in are considerably healthy and very Italian. Hahaha. Crispy base with the tinge of olive oil in the melted mozerella, oh yummy! :))) The salad has a very refreshing taste while the sandwiches are beyond anything you can make at home!
