Itchy fingers with the remote made me watch Travel & Living for a while. And I feel like taking off to somewhere my dart will land. Escape to somewhere. Bring Daniel. Bring great company. Meet new people. Learn to say hi in another language. Buy cool stuff to remember I’ve been there. Watch sunrise in different places. You know, just pack up, go backtracking everywhere and do our bit at each where. That would be so cool.
I’m actually pretty bummed that we didn’t get to go to Langkawi this holidays as planned. Because I miss being excited about going somewhere. I miss actually going somewhere. I miss taking a break from everything and just…GO. I remember having spontaneous trips to the beach/highlands when I was in kindergarten. Just a weekend getaway. Sigh..
Travels I did last year:

See how the sea meets the sky in Redang? I remember baking in the sun and getting a really tanned tan. Beaches. Gotta love it.

There’s just something about Macao that makes me feel sleepy. Everything feels so slow and dreamlike. It feels like it is always at night, somehow. The days in Macao all live in the casinos.

There are many taaaaalll buildings in Hong Kong. And even more men, women and youngsters (occasionally kids, too) clutching onto their LVs while strutting their stuff on the streets. It feels a bit like a city version of Ipoh because they have good dimsum and everyone speaks Cantonese hehe.

I was on that tuk tuk with Khairun and Anna. We were going back to the mini motel from the UNFCCC building after a long LONG day. Then the tuk tuk driver practically threw us off with all the sharp turns and sudden brakes. It was some insane night tuk tuk experience.

Cambodia, Cambodia. With college friends who were high all the time and it was also very sad. We went to S21 which was historically depressing. And it made me feel really sorry for all the Cambodians I see there. All living creatures there seemed so…fragile. Even the trees and cows.
I also tried the happy herb pizza there. Not as happy as I thought it would be haha.

The trip to Bukit Tinggi was memorable for many reasons. And the air up there really does smell fresher. And I loved the small little room ala Alice in Wonderland. And the cute little desks and chairs and ceilings and windows. Room 501. Oh and the first night’s dinner was hahahah!
Sometimes I can see myself in the future traveling to see more of the world every now and then; become a gypsy, preach peace, love and the bliss of the greens. Other times, I see myself being a stay-home mom and part-time journalist; happy to just stay at home. I like both these two versions of myself in the future!
But for now, I’ll try to stop dreaming about going anywhere and just go into some deep sleep (hopefully). Well, at least I’m going back to Ipoh this weekend. Hah.
