Happy Hour
February 28, 2009
The mornings I have been watching out the car window, where raindrops move like train tracks against the speed of the car, were monochrome images of heavy clouds that covered most buildings’ tops in the city. Walking under the drizzles and feeling the chills from those cold breezes remind me of Forks. It’s nice to imagine Malaysia with different weathers than the same old permanent-summer.

I had a great happy hour with Yoyo, Hisham, Maher and Ken at Chilis. Dang, these people are hardcore with beer, yet not any bit flushed. Haha. We watched a movie which was actually so boring, most of us fell asleep. Do not watch The Punisher okay!
Meeting this bunch of people is a blessing. It is wonderful how knowing them make me believe despite the vast differences of our roots and skins and tongues, we are all family. In this ‘family’, I am the… baby. -_____- Only because I am the youngest and smallest/kiddiest/cutest wtf. Well, at least it makes all of them look after/out for me. So much for legal age of consent huh? But they really make me feel homey. :)))
Mabel Turns 18 Today
February 25, 2009
Tonight had been the best Wednesday night in a long, long time! :))) Got home early from classes to ‘prepare myself’ to go to Mabel’s birthday celebration. I ended up asleep on my bed, but at least I got up in time to actually find something to put on okay! Lol.

The ones who were there to celebrate! Mabel + 12 of us! :D :D
Party was about talk, talk, catch-up, pizza, roti canai, sorbet, fried food, talk, talk, laugh, camwhore, talk, talk, joke, laughlaugh, catch-up, palm reading. Talk and laugh more.
Mabel is special to me as she is special to many of our friends. She means a lot to me and I mean only Yanny to her, wtf. Okay, that’s not true! LOL. But only she calls me Yanny and I would only allow her to do so, HAH! We’re THAT close okay! We have had our shared memories, shared moments and shared dreams. Shared identity too when people mistaken us for one another. She has been my ‘twin’ for our entire secondary school days! That was some trouble. One dude from the Penang Interact Conference we attended thought one of us forged our surnames. Lol. Long story short – we’ve just too long a history. So much that even the unlimited virtual world won’t contain. :P
Best memory with her: Talking about everything under the sky, eating ice-cream ONLY when it rained so heavily that the atmosphere becomes freezing cold. Yes, the irony, but that was us. The carefree days. That was way back in 2005! Oh, I heart you! <3

This year, I got her Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates! And two more little gifts. Actually I gave them to her last week(?) because I was so afraid that I can’t give it to her in time since, you know, college schedules and nothing was confirmed then. But nevermind that! She’s started reading it already, YAAAAAYYY!!! Haha. :))) She likey! ;D
HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY, LOVE! MWAH MWAHMWAH MWAH MWAAAH
Mitch Albom Books
February 23, 2009
For One More Day was the first Albom I read and it was really good. Well, it was a Christmas gift from Cherie and on the eve of New Year’s Eve, I was bawling in Dome because of it. Seriously, her fingers pick really sad, although really really good, books!

Tuesdays With Morrie
The Five People You Meet In Heaven
For One More Day
by Mitch Albom
Albom’s earlier books were Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet In Heaven which were just as good, but I did not cry for these two. Haha. Mitch Albom’s books have high readability which gives readers easy understanding. Simple words that make big impact. His stories are inspiring and emotionally raw. There’s really nothing else to say, you’ve to read to know what Albom is about.
His books are for light reading. Maybe something anyone can carry in their little bags. It’s good to have something in hand if you so happen to find yourself waiting for the train. ;)
Eat, Pray, Love
February 21, 2009
About a month ago, I had a really good books buy. I had discount coupons which meant four books amounting to less than a hundred ringgits. Definitely a steal! I finished two Mitch Albom books in a week during the CNY holidays which I have yet to review. But that is only because I got started with a book that caught every bit of my attention…

Eat Pray Love
by Elizabeth Gilbert
After I read the first two chapters, I know this book is something that I can really enjoy by taking it slowly. I needed to read it to myself, word by word, so that I can inject this read into my skin and it will eventually be felt by all my vitals through the bloodstreams. So I juggled between this and The Audacity of Hope in the end.
It was great because I know it really did happen and Liz is so and very honest in all ways in her writing. Some things people wouldn’t even write in journals, she wrote it in this worldwide published bestseller. It was very revealing and beautiful. As I read, it was like she packed me along in her suitcase and carried me through Italy, India and Indonesia. It was a trip about her losing love, finding peace, finding herself, devoting herself, enjoying peace, finding love, balancing life, accepting love and to love. Accounts of what she felt about the chronicles of her journey was most of all, humane.
“And now I’m coming back to Gili Meno under notably different circumstances. Since I was last here, I’ve circled the world, settled my divorce, survived my final separation from David, erased all mood-altering medications from my system, learned to speak a new language, sat upon God’s palm for a few unforgettable moments in India, studied at the feet of an Indonesian medicine man and purchased a home for a family who sorely needed a place to live.
I am happy and healthy and balanced.”
This book deserves to be read. We all, too, deserve to read such a good book. In fact, reading Eat Pray Love made me feel balanced. :)
Showcase
February 21, 2009
The showcase at Taylor’s yesterday was so-so. The sound system was a mess but I liked the acoustic duo and the dance team, so the RM12 was worthy. The reason Jade and I attended this was to give moral support to Mabel and Sheng who performed. And I haven’t seen them for what seems like ages! For more than a month, really!

Mabel, myself and Jade
Other than that, I met a few people whom I think are pretty cool. Not those WOAH SO COOL kind; I’m talking substantial and conversational people. Maybe my social canal was a bit blocked but I swear there were hints of snobs in the air. Haha, not that I have beef with anyone nor I’m not planning on it okay! HEH HEH! :D
